Weekly inflation in Russia remains at 0.1% - Rosstat

Russia's weekly inflation rate remains 0.1% for the third week in a row from March 22 to 28, the Federal State Statistics Service Rosstat said on Wednesday. Inflation rose 2.1% from the year beginning and 0.5 in March, Rosstat reports.

For comparison, inflation equaled 1.2% in March 2015. According to Rosstat data, inflation declined to 7.7% on an annualized basis as of March 28.

Buckwheat prices hiked 1.2% in the reporting period. Tea prices grew by 0.6%. Frozen fish prices rose 0.4% over the last week. Cheese, chocolate sweets and caramel prices grew 0.3%. Eggs prices at the same time declined 0.5%. Pork prices went down by 0.4%. Granulated sugar prices declined 0.2% while chicken and millet prices dropped 0.1%.

Fruit and vegetable prices declined 1.3% on average, including fresh cucumbers down 5.4% and fresh tomatoes - 4.6% respectively. Carrots hiked 0.5% at the same time.

Gasoline prices rose 0.3%, while diesel fuel prices remain unchanged in the reporting period.
