Russia could see approx 3% inflation in Jan-Feb - ministry

February 20, 2008 | Interfax

Russia could have inflation of approximately 3% for the period January-February 2008, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Shatalov said at a roundtable on Wednesday.

"Inflation was 2.3% in January and we're expecting approximately 3% for January-February," Shatalov said.

Shatalov said the results for the start of 2008 would make achieving even this year's adjusted inflation target of 8.5% "not an easy task."

Russia had 11.9% inflation in 2007 - its highest figure since 2003.
