Russia reports monthly budget surplus

Russia's primary budget surplus amounted to 255.42bn RUB (approx. USD 10.36bn) in January 2008, the Finance Ministry reported today. Meanwhile, cash budget surplus reached RUB 243.56bn (approx. USD 9.88bn). According to preliminary estimates, Russia's budget revenue stood at RUB 699.12bn (approx. USD 28.36bn), or 10.5 percent of the target for 2008, budget spending totaled roughly RUB 2.75 trillion (approx. USD 111bn), or 41.9 percent of the amended target, and cash budget spending amounted to RUB 455.56bn (approx. USD 18.48bn), or 6.9 percent of the amended target.

The Federal Tax Service transferred to the budget some RUB 373.19bn (approx. USD 15.14bn), or 11.2 percent of the approved target for 2008. The Federal Customs Service contributed RUB 274.78bn (approx. USD 11.14bn), or 9.3 percent of the target.
