Russia reveals Stabilization Fund

The Russian Stabilization Fund surged 64 percent in ruble terms and amounted to RUB 3.849 trillion (approx. USD 158.13bn) as of January, 1, 2008, the Russian Finance Ministry reported today. Some RUB 1.903 trillion (approx. USD 78.18bn) were allocated to the Stabilization Fund in 2007, including RUB 1.562 trillion (approx. USD 64.17bn) of foreign currency allocation. Dollars and euro allocations each accounted for 45 percent, while pund sterling accounted for 10 percent of the total sum.
